I just need a basic understanding of how to help companies with great IT professionals, but need to understand the whole bigger picture, and exactly what they do including all the buzz words.. Why we avoid problems and why. I know how to assert yourself to your manager, hold them accountable, test your theories with in company policy and have data to support your ideas, if the change. Managers are suppose to support their employees and if you have. Reasonable request, document and have witness to your request, someone is more likely to do what they say when there is a witness, having a witness or being able to document your request, email is a great way to document your request. And set an expectation so that they are accountable to at least replying. If they ask you a question to distract you or dismiss you, ask them how or why and put the responsibility back on them to prove you wrong, especially if you are a benefit for the company. If you keep giving him good ideas and never document that the ideas are coming from you, they are probably getting all the credit, a real manager gives credit to the team they manage, they get right in there and work along side you. If they aren't, they probably sitting back and not really working. That's how you know the difference, they give credit where credit is due, if the team is not getting any and how see the manager rewarded then he probably is claiming to be the reason for success. Its greed and psychology, if a reward comes directly from him as yourself why? Did a promotion happen or bonus? Is the reward something cheap and our character? Then its probably a distraction. He's the middle man keeping the credit for themself. Know your chain of command and company policy, make allies and get friendly with others if their same rank so you can go to if you are suspicious. Observe their behavior and any deviations in that behavior should make you ask why? Track that behavior and see if same factors have same result, humans are creatures of comfort, what makes you change your routine? I know human behavior extremely well now and human nature and can mostly read everyone like a book and know that everyone will eventually get stuck when certain needs are met and stop learning and seeking to achieve more. You're probably wanting to make more money so you can get out of parents, roommates, small place, looking to make more money to get into better position to impress a prospective mate or impress parents. Then what? Is it about money? Or are you really trying to help the betterment of mankind? These are not meant to be offensive questions, as no tone of voice is implied, I am more or less asking questions to help you see I may know what I am talking about.
