“Speed-Dating” for Knowledge

Think of it as speed-dating for information. There was a lot of energy in the room. This unique interprofessional lunch paired
up 10 ECU Brody School of Medicine students with other health care students from ECU’s
dental, nursing and physician assistant programs. And then every five minutes, they switched
partners. I think it’s great that we’re extending
these arms into other areas and connect with them. This activity gave these future leaders an
opportunity to learn about why those in other health care programs chose their field of
study. Just having that exposure gives you a better
appreciation and ability to work more collectively. While the students are following different
paths, it appears their destinations are the same. I think a lot of us had the common ground
to serve the population that had the biggest need. I would love for more majors to do that. I would love for them to have more of this. I would love for this to be a part of the
curriculum.
