Marlon Byrd on the Benefits of Knowing Your Opponent in the Outfield

Marlon Byrd on the Benefits of Knowing Your
Opponent in the Outfield [INTRO MUSIC]>>MARLON BYRD: When we’re preparing to play
the outfield, we will have outfielder’s meetings. So, you’ll know what pitcher’s going to
be on the mound, you’re going to know what team that you’re facing. If you have a right-hander or left-hander,
regardless of who they are, you’re going to know their pitch tendencies.>>MARLON BYRD: When you’re in the outfield
and you’re going against teams, you go against every single hitter. You’re going to know if a guy is an opposite
field hitter, you’re going to know if a guy is a pull hitter. You’re going to know if a guy likes sitting
on breaking balls and pulling pitches. That’s how you’re going to set up in the
outfield. So, prior to the game goes to preparation. It’s knowing who your pitcher is and knowing
who the hitter is at the plate. [OUTRO MUSIC]
