Introducing the new Master of Science in Information Management (MSIM) degree


I’m interested in the field of information management because I see it as having a lot of opportunities for research experimentation and innovation Especially given how much our computing experience has changed within the last decade. We’re at the crossroads. We act as translators. We understand the technology and we also understand how to organize information, how to analyze it and how to put it together to report on it. There isn’t an Organization today that doesn’t depend on information has an important strategic resource and so the Master of Science and Information Management, or the MSIM as we’re referring to it, will prepare you for an entry-level position in pretty much any business nonprofit government or other organization that relies on Data and Will allow you to have a long productive career. As long as we have that a growing amount of information we will need people. I mean the whole society we need people to manage information. I would recommend a career in information management because it does represent the foundation of our new Modern economy. Whatever you wherever you look information is something that is core And it’s key to everything that we do now and so as professional and it’s important to be grounded in a good set of foundational Fundamental skill sets. It’s just so exciting the field changed so much in the last 20 years and the information has always been there as long once we have people and people communicate. It’s just technology Changes. We have stone tablets and now we have like a electronic tablets. I’m interested in information management because it gives you the tools and techniques to gain insights from large Data sets Insights that then can be used To accomplish beneficial things. You know people have been saying Data-driven decisions for a long time, but I feel like it’s actually possible now to to really have that as a management philosophy and so people that can understand how to Turn that data into information into knowledge That’s always going to be crucial. If you really want to have a career that’s going to last the next 30 or 40 years The more you can pin yourself to information and related technologies the better off you’ll be. I think this degree is really going to be money well spent. Information management is insightful. information management is the quest for insights. Information management is Pivotal Information is important information is growing the volume of information. That’s out there Is is only going to increase as we move into the future so the more information literate you are the more Marketable you will be for organizations throughout your entire career. you
