Sometimes it can be hard to get comfortable, but if you are able to sleep I highly recommend it as it will greatly shorten the time that you have on the plane. Take a book with you, a map which you could study and your notes too. Download some episodes, which you could watch in the plane, meditate, sleep, talk to your neighbors, go to the toilet often even if you don't need to go just for your legs, do some exercises in the plane for your legs and enjoy bcs you are going to korea!!💞Look for tickets on twitter and Facebook, sometimes people sell their tickets bcs they can't go in the last minute probably I army's. At first time I tried to sleep a little but it was awful and really hard. If you don't have the skill to fall asleep anywhere and in any position it'll be extrimly hard on the plane. So I was exhausted after my attempts. At second time I knew that sleeping is a bad idea, so I did everything except sleeping and felt not really bad myself after that. Highly recommend not to sleep after coming to Korea. It'll be much easier to survive the jetlag. Have a wonderful trip! From the times of traveling to Mexico and trying to talk with my family for about two weeks in only my broken, American accented Spanish, my dad later pointed out that my Spanish became better after the trip. Each time I've gone to Europe we always land around 8-9am so I try and stay awake for the first couple hours of the flight and then sleep for the last 6ish hours that way my body is already getting used to a new timezone. Alessia Smith October 14, 2019 at 11:00 pm Reply For jet lag sleep on the plane!! It helps a lot. When I went to Italy I didn’t sleep on the plane and the six hour time difference hit HARD when I had to go through a whole day after not sleeping for almost 24 hours. And the other half watch movie or whatever stuff is showing on the airplane. I honestly just go straight to asian movies . But also eat , stay hydrated , and bring toothbrushes and a face mask . The air in the plane is seriously detrimental to people with dry skin . But yea , hopefully this helps . Next week, and I didn’t got tickets for the bts concert either lol 😂 Rachel Kang October 15, 2019 at 5:32 am Reply Hey! I lived most of my life in Korea, and to give some traveling tips:1. For Flying:-If you're flying economy, don't obsess over aesthetics or your love of clouds. It's gonna be a long ass ride (speaking with the tone of Mark. If you know, you know.) and you NEED TO PEE often. Try to sit in the hallways. -If you're flying straight to Korea without any stops, then the plane should be big enough to have large sections! Try to sit in the front. More space for your legs for a long flight is essential!-You're gonna get bored. Download something or Netflix or take a book! 2. For visiting Seoul:-Han Rive(한강)r: The weather is quite nice and a bit chilly rn in Korea! It's not too late to enjoy an evening near the riversides of Han River! You can practically order any food, and the ramen noodles are cooked using specific machines in convenience stores, which makes them so good. -Gang Nam(강남): You can really find anything to do at Gang Nam. You can get fancy boba, VR playstations, karaoke, all kinds of food, aesthetic cafes, and all that. There's also a large LINE store and a KAKAO store!-Yeon Nam Dong/Hongdae (연남동/홍대) : This is a hip area with many cute cafes! I know you can't eat gluten, and there are a number of cafes here that sell gluten free food! (I recommend Pan Honesta, their chocolate tarts are to die for) The streets itself are also really cute, I recommend just walking around this area:) Yeon Nam Dong is really close to Hongdae, which you might've heard of! Hongdae is also somewhere I think you should spend time just walking around the area:)-Dongdaemun/DDP (동대문): this area is mostly for shopping and getting some insta-worthy pics at the DDP center! It's close to Namsan-tower(남산타워) and Myeongdong (명동) so you could check it out if you have time!-Gyeong-bok Palace, and all the other palaces (경복궁, 그 외의 궁궐 건물들): Personally i really recommend you visit Palaces around the main Seoul area. They are BEAUTIFUL, and they really show the traditional beauty of Korea:) near the palaces there's Insadong(인사동), which is another hip/traditional area:) 3. For visiting Busan:-Gwang-an-ri Beach(광안리): I personally loved it when I visited Gwang-an-ri at night! The Gwang-an Bridge lights up at night and the view is amazing! -Dadaepo Beach(다대포 해변): This place isn't that well known to tourists, and the ocean is so serene compared to the other beaches in Busan. It's a great place to just walk along the sand:) -BIFF/Bupyeong Market (부산국제영화거리/부평시장): The food. You have to go for the food. I know you're vegetarian and Korea don't have that many restaurants and menus for vegetarians quite yet! Bupyeong Market sells AMAZING tteokboki made with super thick and long rice cakes. I fell in love with them so they are a must try! They also sell Hotteok, but i don't know if that's an option for you:/-Haeundae(해운대): I feel like this is one of the biggest must-visit places in Busan, but for me it felt too overpopulated. I did love the streets connecting the area around Haeundae!-Haeridan-road (해리단길): This is not a specific place, but rather a small area with aesthetic cafes and places selling cute stationary and all that. They also have cute drawings on the walls, and i know on some dates they have small flee markets! You should check that out if you have time:) Honestly these were all I could think of at the top of my head, and I'm pretty sure there are many more places that you should check out! Welcome to Korea, I'm so excited that you'll get a chance to see this beautiful country:) I hope I can bump into you at Seoul! If you have questions or want any other recommendations plz let me know:) Have a good trip! Carla W. October 15, 2019 at 6:08 am Reply When I flew to Thailand and back (each flight around 12 hours)I mostly just slept, watched a movie and that was it. My flights were during night time so it was easy to fall asleep. Just me Lee October 15, 2019 at 10:25 am Reply Nina! For the flights try to sleep as much as possible on the longest flight! I don’t know if you have layovers but the longest flight is the hardest. And they usually turn off lights and encourage you to sleep. Try to take a variety or activities. Playing cards, books, movies, markers for doodling. The more variety of activities you can do on the plane the less boring it will be.
